WHO WE ARE
Emily DeFouw, PhD, BCBA
Emily DeFouw is an Assistant Professor in the School Psychology Program at the University of Southern Mississippi. She received her Ph.D. in school psychology from the University of Massachusetts-Boston. She completed a predoctoral internship in pediatric psychology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's Munroe Meyer Institute (MMI) and post-doctoral training at Ohio University in the Center for Intervention Research in Schools (CIRS). Dr. DeFouw's research interests include evaluating treatment intensity and implementation for math interventions delivered within a Response-to-Intervention (RtI) framework and school-based consultation.

Chelsea JohnsonChelsea Johnson is a fifth-year student in the USM School Psychology Doctorate Program and is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Chelsea received her bachelor's degree in Psychology at Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee. Chelsea is currently a pre-doctoral intern at the Tennessee Internship Consortium in Psychology. Chelsea's research interests include interval training (e.g., physical activity) with disruptive behaviors, academic interventions, and oppositional defiant disorder. Chelsea enjoys international traveling; she's been to Paris, London, Ireland, Jamaica, and Brussels.

Brittany PiggBrittany Pigg is a fifth-year student in the University of Southern Mississippi School Psychology Ph.D. program and a native of Mobile, Alabama. She received her Bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of South Alabama. Her research interests include examining factors in behavioral and academic intervention to inform best practice guidelines. Brittany enjoys cooking, gardening, and training her poodle puppy, Henri.

Emily MaximeEmily Maxime is a fourth-year graduate student in the University of Southern Mississippi School Psychology Doctoral Program and a native of Mobile, Alabama. Emily's research interests include examining the implementation of intervention and consultation strategies that can be generalized by students and teachers to help further their overall success at school and home. For fun, Emily enjoys being on the water and antique shopping.

Sarah ButtSarah Butt is a fourth-year student in the University of Southern Mississippi School Psychology Doctorate Program. She received her bachelor's in Biochemistry from the University of Mississippi and her M.S. in Psychology from the University of New Orleans. Sarah's research interests include peer mediated social skills interventions, academic interventions, and school consultation. Sarah enjoys spending time with her pets, taking care of her plants, and cooking meals that require way too many dishes.

Abigail LawsonAbigail Lawson is a fourth-year graduate student in the University of Southern Mississippi School Psychology Doctoral Program. She received her B.S. in Psychology at Mississippi State University. Her primary research interests focus on implementing effective classroom intervention strategies and academic interventions. In Abigail’s free time, she enjoys watching movies, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.

Kayla McVayKayla McVay is currently a second-year student in the University of Southern Mississippi School Psychology PhD program, and is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She received her bachelor’s degree from Tougaloo College in Jackson, MS. Her primary research interests focus on examining academic interventions for underrepresented communities and exploring the incorporation of technology. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering, the outdoors, and socializing with family and friends.

Gabryele McCroskeYGabryele McCroskey is a senior undergraduate psychology student at the University of Southern Mississippi and is originally from Louisiana. Her future goals include attending graduate school after receiving her bachelor's degree and traveling the world. She volunteers, cooks, and takes care of her many pets in her spare time.

Bailey Meleady
Bailey Richardson Meleady is a senior undergraduate psychology student at the University of Southern Mississippi. She is originally from Jackson, MS but most recently resided in Ocean Springs, MS. Her future goals include attending graduate school in educational/school psychology. She enjoys cooking, gardening, and exploring new places. Next up- the Bahamas, London, and South Korea!
